FARM RAISED MEATS
Hormone free, pasture raised meats are gaining in popularity as consumers become more educated about the foods they buy. The farms listed below offer local farm raised meats ranging from certified Black Angus to venison, all available custom cut to your specifications.
Beef is the king of red meats. The average person consumes more than 100 pounds of beef annually. The beef cattle farms sell beef by the side or half of the cow. A side of beef will generally weight about 225 pounds. The side is taken to a local butcher who will custom cut, label and seal the meat for your specific order. You can work with the butcher to select the quantity of meats from sirloin to hamburger, crown roasts to corned beef. Many people will share the cost of a side of beef with friends and family.
New breeding systems, such as a the Star system, enables lamb producers to process lambs year round rather than just in the spring. A spring lamb generally weighs between 35 to 45 lbs. and can be custom cut also.
Fresh farm poultry and eggs are available. Holiday turkey farms generally require an order in advanced due to their popularity and growing demand.
Deer farms are a growing business in our county as venison’s popularity has grown as a specialty meat in the restaurant trade.
Whatever your preference, Saratoga County’s farm raised meat farmers offer you the freshest and best selection of quality meats you can buy.
